Dear Friends in Christ,
The 5-year Plan was presented to the leaders of our parish ministries and to the members of major parish boards/committees on Thursday, September 16th, and then at a parish-wide gathering last Monday evening the 20th. The Planning Committee has put in many hours since January to finalize the 5-year plan, and they did an excellent job presenting this plan at these meetings. Please thank the members of this committee for their good work: Mirtala Aaron, Mike Carr, Steve Chastain, Dawn Cowan, Cathy Ditmars, Phil Easlon, Rafael Elias, Doug Fuller (vice-chair), Greg Main (chair), Teresa Marianos (secretary), Pat Maye, and Jeff Robinson. The entire 5-year Plan document will be on our website very soon and hard copies of this plan are available in the parish office upon request. There also will be a trailer on our website of the live presentation with information on the availability of videotapes/DVD’s of the live presentation done on September 20th. The main recommendation of the 5-year plan is the need to build a new church. During the next month I will assemble a Building Committee to work on putting together an actual design for a new church. More on the new church process in the near future.
Over the next several weekends we will be focusing on our annual Stewardship Renewal. You should receive by mail later this coming week or early next week the materials for this renewal, including a ministry catalogue and a commitment card. A Ministry Fair will take place in the gym after all the Masses on October 2-3. Representatives of our parish ministries will have information available about their ministry and be on hand to answer questions.
Workshops for Liturgical Ministers will take during the next week. More ushers are needed, especially at the 10 a.m. Mass, so
come Sun., Oct. 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. if you would like to be an usher.
If you have not yet made a pledge to support the good work of Catholic Charities, please take a pledge envelope from the counter at the entryway and do so. You can return your pledge envelope to the parish office or drop it in the regular Sunday collection. There are also brochures available next to the envelopes explaining the ministries of Catholic Charities and how the funds are allocated.
Work has progressed at a good pace this week on our cry room and women’s restroom and hopefully both of these will be available for use this weekend. The lights for the gathering area arrive this week and then work can be completed in that space.
I will be going to Chicago on Monday morning for the annual board meeting of the National Federation of Priests’ Councils. I represent the priests in the dioceses of our Province (Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Little Rock), which includes all of Oklahoma and Arkansas. My 3-year-term on this national board expired this past spring, but since a priest representative from the Tulsa Diocese has yet to step forward to fill this position, I agreed to stay on the board a while longer. I will be back here Friday afternoon. Fr. Ross will be gone on vacation from Sunday afternoon, September 26th through Friday, October 15th. Priests from area parishes will be available during this coming week in the case of an emergency.
In the peace of Christ,
Rev. Joseph A. Jacobi

RENOVANDONOS PARA EL SIGLO 21
RENACER - RENEW
