In today's Gospel, the disciples suggest that Jesus disperse the crowd so that they might individually seek food and lodging. The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is Jesus' powerful reminder that when we share our gifts in His name there is always more that enough!

Each Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., the ROSARY is recited in the Chapel followed by the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Prayer Network - If you have needs or concerns for which you would like your church family to pray, call 751-7115, ext. 554.

Dear Friends in the Christ,

This weekend at the Sunday Vigil Mass (Sat. 5 p.m.) Kit and Bill Winkler will receive a special blessing in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary. Congratulations Kit and Bill!

Thanks to the members of the Parish Council for organizing and working at our Parish Festival and to the members of the various parish organizations who also helped out last Sunday at the festival. We had great weather, hot enough for those of us dunked in the dunk tank but not too hot to be enjoyable. $238.12 was raised through donations at the dunk tank for our School Scholarship Endowment Fund. (The 8th Grade Benefit Basketball Game in May also raised $189.29 as well for this fund.)

There is still confusion in the minds of some parishioners about the nature of the School Scholarship Endowment Fund. This fund was established about 1˝ years ago to help with tuition assistance for children attending our parish school. No monies have been withdrawn from this fund, and none will ever be taken from the principal in this fund. Rather, we hope to keep building up this endowment fund until the interest can be used to grant tuition assistance for families needing this aid. As you can see below in the weekly accounting of donations, almost $80,000 has been collected in this past fiscal year for the School Scholarship Endowment Fund. The fund balance currently stands at $107,747.52. A special 2nd Collection is taken on the first Sunday of each month for this fund, plus special envelopes can be found in your envelope packet. A gift to this fund is a gift that keeps on giving, for in the years to come interest will be drawn from the principal of this fund to make Catholic education affordable for those who otherwise could not afford it.

Last Wednesday evening at a gathering to discern who is being called to serve on the Catholic Education Advisory Council (CEAC), three parishioners were selected to serve a three-year term: Beth Gross, Kelly Milner, and Denis Rischard. Thanks to the members who have completed their term of service---Susie Fuller, Frank Parrino and Kathy Threet. As I have mentioned before in this column, the mission of CEAC has changed in the past year to being solely an advisory council for matters concerning our parish school. Karen Bernardy (DRE) and Judi Wilkinson (Director of RCIA and Adult Formation) are currently forming an advisory council that will assist them in addressing the religious education needs of our CCD children and adults.

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Joseph A. Jacobi

FROM THE ASSISTANT PASTOR,

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the lovely and a bit overwhelming receptions for my 50th Anniversary celebration. Also, your generous gifts will fund a fun golf trip. I have decided to invite three priests to be my guests for a week of golf in July—one of whom will be Fr. Jacobi. Thanks so very much. Sincerely,

Fr. Bill Ross

"Don't Stay Away"

Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is adoration and

Reverence of our Lord Jesus Christ,

In the Holy Eucharist,

And affirms the fundamental belief of our Faith that

He is there - body, blood, soul and divinity,

As He promised to be until the end of time.

Can we stay away considering this gift He gives?

Has there ever been a better time to take refuge

In the certainty of His love?

See the Wednesday Adoration schedule elsewhere in the bulletin.
