Dear Friends in Christ,
This week I am officially starting a job search for a full-time bilingual secretary. With the size of our parish and the numerous activities going on in our parish, we need someone here full-time who can perform secretarial duties. We are blessed to have volunteers who serve as receptionists and answer the phone during the week and help out in other ways. These volunteers will be asked to continue with their important ministry because of the great number of phone calls our office receives. However, we also need a secretary who can provide some continuity to tasks and information flow in the parish office and also complete projects in a timely fashion. One example of this need is the recent mailing out of contribution letters for donations made to our parish in 2003. Since we do not have a secretary who can devote time to a task like this, this task was completed later than usual and then the letters spent some time in the mail. (The contribution letters were mailed by bulk mail on Feb. 6th, and I did not receive my letter until Feb. 14th.) I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for those of you trying to file your tax returns early. There will be a job description posted for a bilingual secretary in next week’s bulletin describing the duties and also the benefits of this new position.
Deirdre Hite, who serves as our Parish Counselor and director of Family Life programs, is putting on another hat. Deidre is now our website coordinator. She just recently updated our website with current information on our parish staff and is working on updating the rest of our website. Deirdre has also posted the Lenten schedule of events on our website as well as information on our upcoming Parish Mission on March 7-9. A new feature has been added to the front page with the weekly inclusion of my Sunday homily. The upcoming financial report for Fiscal Year 2003-2004 and other such items will also be included on our website in the future. You can visit our website at
www.steugenes.org and if you have anything you would like to see added to the website you can contact Deirdre at 751-7115 X 122 or at dhite@steugenes.org by means of e-mail.As you will notice elsewhere in this bulletin, 291 donors have pledged $84,010 toward this year’s ADF Appeal. If you have not yet had the opportunity to make a pledge of support for this year’s Annual Archdiocesan Appeal, please pick up an envelope from the table in the entryway of the church and help our parish meet its goal of $111,500. Thank you to those who have already donated to this year’s appeal.
If you are looking for a way to deepen and strengthen your faith life during the upcoming Lenten Season, sign up for a RENEW small group. Call Judi Wilkinson at 751-7115 X 115 for more information. Also, please note that the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation) will be offered until 4:30 p.m. on the Saturdays in Lent (3 – 4:30 p.m.). Confessions will also be heard as usual on Wednesdays from 12-1 p.m. and beginning with Wed., March 3rd, from 5:30 –6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays during Lent.
In
the peace of Christ,Fr. Joseph A. Jacobi

It's almost time for the "wearing of the green"! St. Patrick's Day is rapidly approaching and you won't want to miss out on two spectacular events. On Friday, March 12, a St. Patrick's Grand Marshal Ball will be held at beautiful Gaillardia Country Club (black tie optional). This is a fun and exciting way to show the public the tremendous impact that Catholic organizations have on our community. Contact Michele Sarchet, Catholic Charities, 523-3000 for a parade entry form. If you wish to buy ball tickets ($100 per person), call Anne Austin at the same number. Corporate tables are available.
